Why Quhu Studio focuses on acrylic Mahjong
Acrylic gives more freedom for custom American Mahjong projects, especially when a design calls for layered sides, colored backs, embedded colors, glitter effects or a highly controlled brand palette.
Quhu Studio can produce single-layer, two-layer, three-layer and four-layer acrylic Mahjong tiles. Multi-layer structures are especially useful when the side profile is part of the product story.
When melamine is still a good option
Single-layer and two-layer Mahjong tiles can also be produced in melamine resin when the target is a classic, durable, cost-efficient set.
For three-layer and four-layer designs, acrylic is usually the practical route because the material and bonding process support more complex colored construction.
Why transparent backs are usually not recommended
Transparent backs can look impressive in concept, but they show scratches, fingerprints and wear more easily than opaque colored backs.
Even with a hardened surface coating, daily contact with keys, rings, racks and table surfaces may make transparent backs lose their premium appearance faster. For most commercial projects, an opaque colored back is a safer premium choice.
